Weekend Recap; Rustler Athletics

Four of the five fall sports competed for the orange and black over the weekend, and again, all were on the road.

The 13th ranked men's cross country team altered their schedule and ran in Spearfish, South Dakota.  It was the first trip back there since the 1st year of the program.  CWC was the only Junior College team in the mix of 4-year schools.  The men finished 2nd in the five-team event.  Luke Crossley led the Rustlers in fifth followed by teammate Jayden Yates in 6th.  Jessica White finished 10th to lead the women.  Next up, Rustler Cross Country will compete on October 8th at MSU-Billings.

The 13th ranked volleyball team was scheduled for four matches in the Wyo-Braska invite but only ended up getting to play three.  In Scottsbluff, The Rustlers beat 20th ranked Western Nebraska 3-1 and Lake Region College 3-0 on Friday.  On Saturday they would fall to Northeastern Junior College in five hard-fought games losing 15-12 in the final frame at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.  They were to play Barton College from Kansas in the final match Saturday, but Barton pulled out of the tournament and did not play their final match.  The Rustlers will begin conference play on the road this weekend.

Both soccer teams would come back without a win on a long road trip to Southern Colorado.  The women lost to Otero (1-5) and lost to Trinidad State (0-2).  The men's team fell to Otero (3-1) and to Trinidad (3-0).  Central will host Northwest College on Wednesday at 2pm and 4pm at the CWC Soccer Field.

Unfortunately, both Central golf teams had to cancel their weekend of competition.  The CWC women will take part in the Bear Tooth Invite in Billings later this month. Both teams resume Region IX play on September 30th.
