Prom wins third straight tournament

Ruslter golfer, Samalie Prom, continues to tear things up on the women's side, as she won her third straight tournament this past weekend in Sterling, Colorado.  Prom shot 99 on a beautiful first day of the tournament and 88 on a very frigid second day for a 187 total.  Rustler, Tara Cottrill, placed 3rd in the tournament with 109-101 and 210 while Kaylee Smith finished 8th with 124-109 and 233 and Ariana Curtis finished in 10th with 143-133 and 276.   "The entire ladies team did an excellent job and were led by Samalie Prom.  I felt like we had the best showing of our ladies so far this season. They had a rough start on Thursday but came back on Friday ready to play and every one of them improved their scores on Friday.  Samalie won her third straight tournament by 12 shots to lead the team," said Coach Holgate.

The men finished in 4th place and were led by Kaleb Spiva and Garret Phillips, both who finished in the top ten with 151 each;  Spiva 72-79 and 151 and Phillips with 78-73 and 151.  Other Rustler scores were Dustin Corun 80-83 and 163, Dawson Ritt 81-84 and 165, Cameron Carter 86-81 and 167, Ben Stoinski 87-88 and 175, Kolbey Wells 90-85 and 175 and Justin Blan 100-93 and 193.  "Kaleb and Garret both put two pretty good rounds together to finish in the top 10 and led the team to a fourth place finish.  As a team they committed to playing 36 holes of golf no matter what, I'm proud of them because they did just that," said Coach Holgate.

The Rustlers will compete this weekend at McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska.
