Men's Basketball Team Excited For 2018-19 Schedule

Announcing a full slate of 29 regular-season contests for the 2018-19 season Wednesday, Central Wyoming College men's basketball head coach, Brad Schmit, revealed the Rustler's schedule.

In addition to its regular-season contests, CWC will play in a pair of preseason jamborees in Windsor, Colorado at the JucoAdvocate Rocky Mountain Showcase on October 12-13 and in Salt Lake City, Utah at Salt Lake Community College on October 20th.

Central Wyoming opens up it's regular season on Nov. 1 with the CWC Men's Classic hosted in Rustler Gymnasium.  The team faces an immediate test against defending Region 9 champions, Western Nebraska Community College.  Just two days after opening night, the Rustlers will face National Runner-up, College of Southern Idaho.

"Our squad will be tested early in the season competing against two nationally recognized programs.  With 13 new players on the roster, our first weekend of competition will open their eyes to high level junior college hoops," said Coach Schmit.

As the season progresses, the Rustlers will head north to Glendive, Montana to play Region 13 opponents Dawson Community College and Williston State College.  Dawson ended the 2017-18 season by going 24-8 and losing in the Region 13 championship.

After Nov. 29 against Williston State, the Rustlers will have nothing but Region 9 and 18 opponents for the remainder of the season. CWC's last game, sophomore night, will be on Feb. 23 against Laramie County Community College.

"The game schedule we have for this season is going to test us in every way possible. Twenty-nine opponents, 0 games against prep schools or 4-year junior varsity programs, 2 games against the NJCAA runner-up, 2 games against the 2018 Region 9 champs, and one other game against the 2018 NWAC Champions, North Idaho. I could not be more excited about the challenge we are faced with. For the Rustler fans out there, I encourage you to get out to support our squad. We will play a fun style that focuses on ball movement, spacing, and team play. I cannot wait for November 1st!" -Coach Schmit
