Rustlers Drop Two at CSI

Rustlers Drop Two at CSI

The Rustler Men's Basketball team dropped its last two games before break falling to two nationally ranked programs.

On Friday, December 14th the Rustlers took on an undefeated #16th ranked Snow College squad. The game was highly contested throughout before Snow pulled away midway through the second half taking the game from CWC 78-59. CWC was plagued by one of the coldest shooting nights they have had all season; shooting a meager 16% from 3's (3-18) and 55% from the free throw stripe (10-18). One bright spot for CWC was holding the high scoring Badgers 18 points below their season average and 5 3's below their average. James Woods led the Rustler's both in scoring (17 points) and rebounding (8 rebounds).

On Saturday, December 15th CWC was back in action against the #13 ranked College of Southern Idaho. Similar to the Snow game, the Rustler's battled for a majority of the contest before falling late, 101-81. The final score was not an indicator of how the game went. With 3:30 left CSI held a 9 point lead. David Simental had an open three point shot to cut the lead to six points. Unfortunately for the Rustlers the shot caromed off the rim landing in the hands of a CSI player. A quick foul and put back pushed the Golden Eagles lead to 12 points. From there the visiting Rustlers couldn't get back in the game. Simental led the offensive attack with 22 points with the player of the game being Jerroda Briscoe (10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 steal).

The Rustlers will be back in action January 5th when they travel to Miles City, MT to take on Miles Community College at 1 PM.
