Rustlers Add Three Transfers to Finalize 2019 Recruiting Class

Men's Head Basketball Coach, Brad Schmit, has announced the signing of three transfers, Abdi Dahir, Dave Francois, and Anthony Mensah, wrapping up the recruiting process for the 2019 class.

"Adding these three young men to our program will add size, athleticism, and depth to a multitude of positions we were targeting," said Schmit. "Bringing on 7 new guys to mix in with our 8 returners makes our roster deeper and more talented then it was in 2018-2019. "

Dahir, comes to CWC after attending Las Vegas Prep. Dahir attended David Douglas High School in Portland, OR, where he averaged 17.4 PPG, 6 RPG, and 3 APG during his senior campaign. Standing 6'6" and being able to play multiple forward positions makes Dahir interchangeable within the Rustler offensive and defensive system. "Abdi can play the SF, PF, and if playing small ball, the center position. This will give him an opportunity to play early and often. I feel Dahir is hungry to be a big time player and it is our goal as a staff to get him to where he wants to be," Coach Schmit explained.

Francois, is another prep school player hailing from Hillcrest Prep in Arizona. In his one year of prep, he averaged 15 PPG, 6 RPG, and 2 APG. Francois played his senior year of high school at McArthur High School in Hollywood, Florida.  The 6'6" wing is known for his athleticism and smooth shooting stroke. "Dave is going to be one of the best athletes in our program. This will make him very valuable on the defensive end of the floor along with being a better rebounding team. I feel he hasn't scratched the surface of how good he can be," commented Coach Schmit on Dave's skill set.

Mensah, joins the Rustlers after spending his freshmen year at New Mexico Military Academy. Starting multiple games for NMMI while averaging 5 PPG and 4 RPG will provide CWC with depth at the center position along with a player who has competed against NJCAA DI competition for a year. Coach Schmit had glowing things to say about inking the 6'8" transfer from Toronto, Canada "Having played at the NJCAA DI level, in arguably the best region in the country, makes this signing so important. Anthony averaged over 10 PPG and 6 RPG over his last 10 games of the season. If he can replicate that production over 30 games I feel we could be pretty good."

The Rustler's will be back in action on October 11-12, when they travel to Windsor, CO for the JucoAdvocate Junior College Jamboree.
