Rodeo Team has strong performance at Sheridan

The CWC Women's Rodeo Team had a strong performance in Sheridan as they rode and roped their way to a 3rd place finish. Josee Vogel led the way, winning the Women's All Around as well as placing 2nd in goat tying and 6th in the break away event.  Vogel was sitting in 1st in goat tying with an 8.2 in the long go, but got bumped into 2nd place with a 9.0 in the short go. Frankie Orahood placed 8th in the goat tying event and Hannah Smrekar placed 10th in the break away event.

The men finished the weekend in 5th place, with five cowboys finishing in the top ten in their events. Taylor Davidson led the way for the Rustlers as he finished 3rd in steer wrestling and 7th in tie down roping.  Thomas Davis had another great rodeo, as he placed 2nd in bareback while Hadley McCormick placed 4th in tie down roping. Other scorers for the Rustlers were Cole Trainor who finished 7th in the team roping event and Jace Berger who came in 9th in steer wrestling.

"I am proud of the way the team performed as a whole this past weekend.  Most of the team was able to capitalize when given the opportunity.  Josee Vogel placed second in the goat tying and sixth in the breakaway roping, gathering up 180 points for the CWC women's team and won her the all-around title.

Thomas Davis placed second in the average after splitting the short round win in the bareback riding. The most amazing part was that he had to borrow the bareback riggin from his friend (that he split the round with) after the handle on his broke in half when the horse he drew rared back in the chute.

I'm also very proud of Taylor Davidson for competing with a hurt knee for the past two weeks.  The two events he made the short round in, steer wrestling and tie down roping, are very taxing on the knees.  He has shown some true grit practicing and competing in his condition." -Coach Drew Schrock
