Thurston wins second all-around title

Brady Thurston and Taylor Davidson both had outstanding performances this past weekend, as they led the Rustlers to a first place finish in Lamar, Colorado.  Thurston won his second all-around title of the year, as he tied for first place in the saddle bronc event with a 148 average and 9th in tie down roping.  Davidson teamed up with fellow CWC Cowboy, Jace Berger, to finish 8th in team roping.  Davidson also finished 5th in steer wrestling with a 13.2 average placing him 7th all-around.  Jace Berger was CWC's top steer wrestler, finishing 3rd with a 11.2 average.  Berger's efforts in these events earned him 4th place in the all-around. Teammate, Thomas Davis, finished 4th in bareback and Danny Huxtable finished 4th in steer wrestling.

The women's team finished in 4th place and were led, once again, by Josee Vogel.  Josee finished 4th in goat tying and teammate, Karson Bradley, finished 7th in barrels.

"As a whole I was really pleased with the performance of the entire team this past weekend.  CWC had 11 positions coming back into the short round on Sunday.  Most of them were able to capitalize on the stock they had drawn, and were able to gather up some individual and team points.  Brady Thurston had an amazing long round, making it back to the short round in three events.  He led the way for the men's team to win the rodeo, winning himself another all-around title.  Having two other teammates make it back in two events didn't hurt things either.  Taylor Davidson has been back in two events twice this fall and now his traveling partner, Jace Berger, is doing the same.  Josee Vogel also made two great runs in the goat tying to hold a solid position in the regional standings.  It's exciting too see the entire team performing at such a high level because they push one another all week during practice, which is obviously preparing them for the rodeos."  -Coach Schrock
