Rustlers compete at UW Rodeo, Qualify two for CNFR

The Men's team had enough points to finish second place for the rodeo led by Brady Thurston who won the steer wrestling average with a 9.9 on two head, after winning the long round with a 4.9 second run, and placed third in the short round with a 5.0. Fellow teammates, Taylor Davidson and Cole Trainor, followed close behind placing second and third in the average, by splitting first in the short round with the fastest two runs of the weekend of 4.5. Thomas Davis split second and third in the long round of the bareback riding, with a 73 point ride, followed by a 68 in the short round.  That wasn't enough for him to place in the that round, but did allow him to place third in the average. 

 

Karson Bradley led the way for the women's team placing fourth in the average in the barrel racing. After making it to the short round, with a 14.83 second run from the long round, and following it up with a 14.65 in the short round, placing her fourth. Josee Vogel had a smoking 14.56 second run placing her second in the long round, but tipped a barrel in the short round bumping her down to ninth in the average. Kate Dickenson also made it back to the short round in the barrel racing with a 14.82 second run, followed by a 15.30, placing her eighth in the average. Kassie Kautzman tied her first goat in 7.7 seconds placing her seventh in the long round, but received a no-time in the short round when her goat failed to stay tied for the required six seconds. 

 

Representing CWC at the CNFR will be Thomas Davis and Taylor Davidson. Thomas won the Men's All Around and Men's Rookie of the year. He will be competing in both the steer wrestling and bareback riding after finishing out the year second in the steer wrestling, and third in the region of the bareback riding.  Taylor was crowned Regional Champion Steer Wrestler, and will be representing CWC in that event. 

 

"I am very proud of this team and how they have conducted themselves throughout this season. As a team we practice for seven months out of the year together and travel to ten rodeos. We are like a big dysfunctional family that are working to improve daily. As their coach, I get to watch them have their good days and bad, mostly good. Its fun to watch them develop not only in the arena, but as adults as well. I wish each of them could have made it to the CNFR, but the competition is very tough in this region, and I am very excited for both Thomas and Taylor, they both had great seasons and will represent us well at the CNFR." -Coach Schrock
