Rustler Results From Lamar Rodeo

The Rustlers traveled to Lamar, Colorado this past weekend for the fourth rodeo of the season. The ten hour trip back seemed to be a little longer for the team after only having one member place in the top two for the weekend.

Nate Weyrich led the men's team placing second in the average after posting a time of 5.6 in the long round.  This time tied him for tenth and eleventh with teammate Tyler Byrne. Nate came back with a 4.0 to win the short round moving him up eight places in the average. Tyler broke out in the short round which tacked on a ten second penalty to his 6.9 making it a 16.9 time. Thomas Davis made it back to the short round in both the steer wrestling and bareback riding event. He placed ninth in the long round of the steer wrestling with a 5.4, followed by a 6.5 that placed fifth in the round and sixth in the average. Thomas also placed sixth in the bareback riding after finishing third in the long round with a 76, but was only 63 in the short round. Colton Clemens, a transfer student, was able to start entering this weekend and proved to be an asset to the team.  He placed fifth in bareback riding, placing sixth in the long round and fifth in the short round with two 70 point rides. Taylor Davidson roped and tied two calves down in 25.6 seconds to place fifth in the tie-down roping. He placed tenth in the long round with a 12.3 and fifth in the short round with a 13.3.

"Obviously it wasn't the weekend we wanted or are capable of," said Coach Schrock.  "This team has a lot a character and work ethic and I know this will be a productive week of practice going into our last fall rodeo. Nate was able to ride Brady Thurston's horse Lucky in the steer wrestling this past weekend and it looked like a good match, so I will make some adjustments on the points team and we will keep working on the things that we feel make a difference and that have worked for us all season."

The Rustlers will head to Cheyenne this weekend to compete at the LCCC Rodeo.
