Two Rustlers Qualify for CNFR

Karson was able to finish off the season by claiming the Barrel Racing title at the UW Rodeo.  She stopped the clock in 14.94 seconds in the long round to place second, and followed that up with the fastest run of the weekend with a 14.76 to win the short round and the average. 

 

On the men's team, Taylor Davidson made it back in both the Steer Wrestling and in the Team Roping with teammate Brady Thurston.  Taylor stopped the clock in the long round of the steer wrestling with a 6.8 second run that took him back to the short round in the seventh position.  He placed second in the short round with a 5.2 which bumped him up to second in the average.  Davidson and Thurston split fourth and fifth in the long round with a 6.7 second run, but took a no-time in the short round dropping them to seventh in the average. 

 

"Rodeo is a humbling sport," said Coach Schrock.  "There are a lot of variables when you start adding animal athletes to the equation.  I am proud of each and every one of the kids that finished the season, whether they won or not, they finished what they started and that is important in life.  It's a long two seasons, one in the Fall and one in the Spring, with seven months of hard work in between.  I wish that they could all win, especially when you get to see the hard work they put in day in and day out while maintaining positive attitudes when its -10 degrees outside during practice. With that being said, I am also very happy for Karson and Nate.  They both worked very hard to be in the position they are in, and I can't wait to watch them as they compete to win a national title.  The CNFR runs from June 9th-15th at the Caper Event Center, in Casper, Wyoming."
