Rustler women split the weekend on the road

The lady Rustlers traveled to Powell for the First Bank Wyoming Shootout on Friday and Saturday Nov. 10 and 11. The Rustlers came back late, but fell short Friday to the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming  81-66. The Rustlers took it to the Williston State Tetons Saturday coming away victorious with their first win of the season 75-51.

Friday night the Rustlers had three players in double figures, the Rustlers were lead by Amryn Brown and Rylee Burmester who lead all scorers with 17 a peice. Paulani Tarawa chipped in 16 points and Megan Krahenbuhl added in nine. Four players accounted for 59 of the 66 Rustler points.

"We probably played our best defensive game and are starting to under the system better," said head coach Ken Swartz. "We also did a good job finding the people we think will score for us."

In the victory Saturday three Rustlers scored in double figures. Paulani Tarawa lead the way with a career and season high 21 points. Rylee Burmester added in 14 points with Marissa Arnold putting up a career high of 12.

The Rustlers out rebounded the Tetons 41-30 with five players pulling down five or more rebounds. Burmester, Tarawa and Arnold each with six and Roberts and Fauber with 5 a peice.

"We started the biggest line up we could, (Burmester, Tarawa, Krahenbuhl, Brown, Roberts) and just overwhelmed them with our size at every spot on the floor," said head coach Ken Swartz. "We played man the whole game and did an outstanding job. We started five freshman and I feel they are starting to understand what we want and expect from them and are realizing what it takes to win at this level."

The lady Rustlers continue their season with a three home game stint beginning with Laramie County on Tuesday Nov. 14 at 5:30 pm.
