Lady Rustlers go 1-1 in CWC Classic

The Rustlers went 1-1 hosting their classic this past weekend. The lady Rustlers started the weekend out strong with a win against the Utah Elite 86-50. On Saturday the Rustlers fell short against the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College, 96-75.

Four Rustlers scored in double figures Friday night with 12 Rustlers posting at least two points. Amryn Brown lead the way with 11 while Olivia Shippen, Amanda Mitchell and Megan Krahenbuhl chipping in 10 a piece. The Rustlers pulled down 52 rebounds to out rebound the Elite.

"This was a good game for us to get Lani and Rylee out and get the some rest," said, head coach Ken Swartz. "We have five games in the next nine days, so it was good to get them out. This was a good game because everyone got good minutes, everyone got 10 or more minutes."

The Rustlers stumbled Saturday against EWC falling 96-75. The Rustlers shot 43 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc.

The Rustlers had a season high 19 assists, with Olivia Shippen dishing out seven in her second outing this season. Four Rustlers scored in double figures for the second consecutive night. Amanda Mitchell lead the way for the Rustlers with 16 points on six of 10 from the field netting four of her five attempts beyond the arc. Amryn Brown and Paulani Tarawa added in 12 a piece with Rylee Burmester putting up 10.

"Quickness, speed and great shooting beat us tonight," said head coach Ken Swartz. "We had 19 assists which is a season high and Olivia had seven. Once she is back and fully healthy, she's really going to help us. They really keyed on the people who have been scoring a lot for us, but it was good to see Amanda Mitchell really stepped up and help us tonight."

The lady Rustlers continue their season when they travel to Cheyenne to play LCCC on Tuesday Dec. 5.
