Lady Rustlers split in Billings

The lady Rustlers traveled to Billings to play Rocky Mountain College JV team. The Rustlers split the weekend with the Battlin Bears, opening the weekend with a win 86-63 and coming up short saturday falling to Rocky 58-55.

Friday the Rustlers shot lights out. Shooting 55 percent from the field 75 percent from beyond the arc and 77 percent from the free throw line. The Rustlers were lead by Paulani Tarawa with 21 points with Amryn Brown putting up 15 and Rylee Burmester rounding out the Rustlers in double figures with 10 points. Bailey Forney had a all around good game putting up five points, grabbing four rebounds along with two assists and two steals.

"We had a great practice yesterday and got a lot of things ironed out," said head coach Ken Swartz. "This was a very good JV team and they will have some girls from varsity playing down with them tomorrow, we just need to come back tomorrow and keep doing what we are doing."

Saturday the Rustlers really struggled and were overpowered by Rocky from the tip off. The Rustlers shot 33 percent from the field, 14 percent from three point land and 87 percent from the charity stripe. The Rustlers were lead by Rylee Burmester who had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Amryn Brown added in 12 points with Alyzae Roberts chipping in 8 points and 6 rebounds. Bailey Forney was the team's second leading rebounder for the night with seven.

"We went from our best performance to our worst performance in 16 hours," said head coach Ken Swartz. "I am very disappointed with our efforts saturday and things have to change. You can't shoot 28 percent from the field 14 on threes and expect to win. Our team right now is totally inconsistent from top to bottom and we have to figure it out before regional play begins Jan. 10. Going from how well we shot and played last night to tonight is inexcusable and has to be corrected."
