Women sweep weekend at home

The Rustlers had a balanced attack Saturday to take down the Rams of Little Big Horn, 97-52.

Five Rustlers scored in double figures in the Win Saturday, with Brayle Crosman leading the way with a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Roberts and Tarawa both chipped in 16, Amanda Mitchell added in 14, and Megan Krahenbuhl added in a career high 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ryle Burmester added in nine points in the winning effort for the Rustlers.

The Rustlers shot very well Saturday afternoon shooting 50 percent from the field, 54 from beyond the arc with Amanda Mitchell connecting on four of her six attempts. The Rustler stumbled a bit at the free throw line shooting 67 percent, missing six of their 18 attempts.

"This was a great opportunity for players who haven't been playing a lot to get in the game," said head coach Ken Swartz. "We had five players in double figures and haven't done that all year, but we still have some things we need to work on."

Monday night the Rustlers got off to a great start, starting on the defensive end defeating the Pioneers of Miles City 81-75.

The Rustlers held the pioneers to a mere five points in the first quarter to go up 10 at the end of the first. The Rustlers continued their work on both end of the court to go into the half up 34-18. The Pioneers did not go away quietly, but the Rustlers withstood their run in the third quarter with the pioneers out scoring the Rustlers by one in the third quarter. The fourth quarter came down to free throws in the last two minutes. Myriah Fauber went to the line and went five for six late in the game to seal the deal for the Rustlers. The Rustlers attempted a season high 48 free throws for the night.

The Rustlers were lead by Marissa Arnold with 24 points on eight for nin from the field and eight for 11 from the charity stripe. Rylee Burmester recorded a double-double for the Rustlers with 22 points going 14 for 17 from the stripe and 15 rebounds. Amanda Mitchell had another double figure night with 11 connecting on three of four from beyond the arc. Olivia Shippen lead the Rustlers with 10 assists on the night.

The Rustlers had an excellent shooting night shooting 55 percent from the field connecting on 22 of their 40 attempts to the pioneers 80 attempts. For the second consecutive game the Rustlers shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, and 71 percent from the charity stripe missing only 14 of their 48 attempts. The Rustlers out rebounded the Pioneers 53-33 with every player recording at least one rebound, Brayle Crosman had another double digit rebounding night with 10.

"This was a great win against a very good team," said head coach Ken Swartz. "They beat us 21 at their place, so this was good for us to lead from start to finish. This was our best shooting performance of the year, and we really attacked the rim well to shoot 48 free throws. It was nice to see us win a game when Lani scores only two points and have of others step up tonight and help carry us to the win."
