Runners Compete at First Meet

Central competed in their first meet of the season at the South Dakota School of Mines Invite. Forty three runners competed in the men's 8K race which was led by Ayrton Fuentes from Gillette College who won in a time of 26:52. For the day Black Hills College finished first, Chadron State 2nd, Gillette 3rd, South Dakota 4th and Central Wyoming College 5th. Rustler leaders and times were Lukas Mathew (32nd) 29:33, Zach Relf (36th) 30:31, Dominic Twomey (38th) 31:04, Erick Nkunzimana (39th) 32:07, and Duncan Makin (42nd) 33:14.

Thirty five runners competed in the women's 5K race. Tori Moore of Black Hills College was the overall winner with a time of 19:34. CWC was led by Breanna Beaslen (27th) 24:02, Jessica Stewart (28th) 24:42, Jesslyn Monahan (31st) 25:27, Sienna Shuelar (35th) 27:50. "I was very proud of the girls as they all ran well. Breanna ran a great first college race and I feel our next run against Gillette she will only do better. With our first 4 guys, all freshman, I think their nerves got the best of them.  It was a good test and learning experience," said Coach Lara.
