Congratulations to Laina Whitney on being chosen as the Central Wyoming College Athlete of the Week!

Laina is a freshman on the Rustler Volleyball team where she plays middle blocker and outside hitter. She is proud to call Farmington, Utah home, and came to CWC to study criminology and wants to pursue a career working for the Feberal Bureau of Investigations.

A fun fact about Laina is that she lived in Guatemala for three years. She is passionate about volleyball, her friends and family, and participating in volunteer work through her church.

Laina received first team volleyball All-Region IX conference honors, and was also chosen as the 2024 Region IX volleyball "Freshman of the Year". 

Head CWC Volleyball Coach Kim Davis nominated Whitney because "She has been a true leader on the court as well as off. She makes a true impact in practice and shines during games. [Laina] is such an outstanding middle for us. Leading in stats as a blocker as well as a hitter."
