Clay Reiner ranks 20th in the Nation for Steer Wrestling after CNFR

Clay Reiner is ranked the 20th Steer Wrestler in the nation after the conclusion of the CNFR that took place in Casper, WY last week. There are twelve regions that bring their top three competitors from each event and the top two Men's and Women's teams to compete for a national championship on a three-head average and the top 12 are invited back to the short round at the end of the week.

Clay threw his first steer in 6.9 seconds, placing him in a tie for 9/10 in the round. He received a no-time on his second steer which knocked him out of the average race. His third round time of 7.5 put him in a split for 15/16 place position and a combination of his times put him at 20th in the average and nation.

"It is a huge accomplishment to qualify for the CNFR," said Coach Schrock. "Clay had a great regular season in all three of his events and was really close to qualifying in multiple events. I know he is disappointed that he didn't get his second steer thrown down because a decent run on that one would have for sure brought him back to the short round, and in a great position to battle it out for a national title. With that being said, Clay has one of the most positive attitudes and best work ethics and it shows. He never hangs his head when things don't go as planned, he analyzes his run, figures out what he could have done differently, and moves on. He has a bright future ahead of him in and out of the arena, and we are hopeful that he decides to use his last year of eligibility as a Rustler this upcoming season."
