Beach Volleyball Team Opens Their Season in Denver

The Central Wyoming College Beach Volleyball team participated in their season opening tournament in Denver, Colorado this past Thursday. They played three rounds and a total of 15 matches. For those who are unaware, in Beach Volleyball matches are made up of sets, typically three. Three-set matches are two sets to 21 points and a third set to 15 points. Each set must be won by two points. The first team to win two sets is the winner of the match.
It was a great day to compete, get adjusted to the sand and the team enjoyed every minute of it. The Rustlers ended the day with a positive record, up 8-7 overall. Laina Whitney and Student-Athlete of the week Rian Mckenzie paired up to win 2 matches and only suffer one loss on the day.
Their next matches are with Colorado MESA University on March 8 in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they will play 2 rounds and 12 matches.
