Rustlers Conclude Beach Volleyball Season with a Draw Against SLCC Bruins

In a riveting end-of-year beach volleyball showdown, the Central Wyoming College Rustlers faced a tough draw against the Salt Lake Community College Bruins on April 18, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Rustlers and Bruins both showcased their skills and competitive spirit, ending the meeting with a final score of 6-6.
The pair of Presley Ryan and Brooklyn Coats secured two wins in the first set, showcasing their dominance with scores of 24-22, 21-18, and a consistent 21-17 in both rounds. Laina Whitney and Rian McKenzie similarly impressed in the third set, winning their rounds 21-17, 21-19 and 21-16, 21-20 respectively, demonstrating strong gameplay and resilience.
Khloe Hobson and Hallie Reeder found resistance in the second set, losing both of their rounds. The tandem of Rachel Workman and Nora Rasmussen in the fourth set, and Sarah Meservey and Paige McKenzie in the fifth set, could not overcome the Bruins' challenge, though they fought hard in every round.
Despite some losses, additional recognition was given to Paige Tolman and Rian McKenzie, who turned in excellent performances, decisively winning both of their rounds with impressive scores, including a dominant second round of 21-8 and 21-11.
Head Coach Kim Davis praised her team's efforts throughout the season, stating, "Great end of the year beach play. Girls played hard and very well. I felt we improved tremendously throughout the season. I am blessed to have such a great group of girls to work with."
Looking ahead, the Rustlers will face Casper College on April 26, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming, aiming to continue their strong performance and end the season on a high note.
