Big Defensive Night Lifts Rustlers Over Generals
The Central Wyoming College Rustler men's basketball team held the Sheridan College Generals to 39.6 percent from the floor, taking the 68-56 victory at home on Saturday night.
"I think tonight was our most complete game so far of our season," head coach Jack Nelson said. "It probably wasn't our most exciting game or most dominate game but in terms of following our game plan and executing what we worked on in practice it was our most complete game. If we can continue to make strides like this over the next couple weeks then we have a chance to finish the year in an exciting manner."
The Rustlers were led by 13 point efforts from both starting point guard Devon Colley, as well as guard Marcus Nolan. For the second straight game, Nolan's performance off the bench was key in the Rustlers' victory. Forward Alihan Demir registered a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Riverton's finest, Chris Quayle, ended the evening with 12 points and eight rebounds.
With the win, the Rustlers have now won 15 of their last 18 contests. The team will have their work cut out for them this week, as they travel this evening to take on the Northwest College Trappers. They are then back on the road Saturday to face the Western Wyoming Mustangs. With two wins, the Rustlers would cement the no. 2 seed in the North Division Regional Playoffs.
