Central Beats Eastern in Overtime

The Rustlers played in Torrington, WY against the Lancers of EWC over the weekend, and came home with a 4 point win in overtime (69-65).

Eastern outscored the Rustlers in the first half 29-24.  Central came out of halftime with a little more intensity than Eastern, and would outscore them the second half (33-28) to put them into OT.  "It's scary to think Eastern is 0-4 in league and is a very good team. They took Sheridan to overtime, played Gillette to 1, and took us to overtime. The region is very good this season," stated Coach Schmit.

Central was led in scoring by Sophomore James Woods who had 20 points.  Other high scorers for the Rustlers were Darius Guinn with 12 and Jerroda Briscoe with 10.  Coach Schmit was excited about how a couple of his kids played saying, "James Woods and Jaylon Gentry were big time for us in both games. Woods provided an offensive punch we have been missing. Gentry has been a force on defense and running the team."

"Last week we accomplished one of our program goals, which was to sweep a week of conference games. Winning two hard fought games against LCCC and EWC will hopefully propel us to success moving forward."

Up Next:  The Rustlers will host Northwest College on Wednesday, January 22nd at 7:30pm.
