Men's Basketball Goes 1-1 During CWC Classic
The Men's basketball team took the court this past weekend for two home games against Lamar Junior College and Air Force Prep.

The first game out on Friday had the Rustlers face off against a talented team from Lamar. From the opening jump, the team was ready to go. Taking an early lead and never relenting holding the lead for all 40 minutes. With a final score of 99-77. "It was a true team win for us. With five players scoring in double figures, 22 assists, and all 11 guys seeing playing time. I was very proud of our guys for taking care of an opponent we were clearly better than," commented Coach Schmit. The player of the game went to Deotis Nunn who had 12 points and 5 assists.

Saturday's game against Air Force Prep was another hard test for the CWC team. After a physical battle in the first 20 minutes, the Rustlers held a 46-44 lead at halftime. Unfortunately, Air Force Prep came out on fire to start the second half, making 18 of 22 shots while racing out to a 20-point lead. After a couple of made 3's by Trey Simms late, the final margin saw the Rustlers fall 94-110. "Credit to Air Force Prep for making every single play and shot throughout the second half. We didn't make it hard on them by any means, but their players made plays and ours did not," quoted Coach Schmit. The player of the game went to Trey Simms who finished with an impressive individual stat line of 19 points, 2 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.

The Rustlers are back in action Tuesday, November 15 at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO.
