Men's Basketball Gets First Region 9 Win
On Thursday night the CWC Men's Basketball team started a tough stretch of five straight road games traveling to Rock Springs; facing off against Region 9 power Western Wyoming.  From the tip, the Rustlers were locked in and ready to compete. With back to back 3's from Javonne Nesbit and Julian Roberts to open the scoring, the lead was controlled by CWC throughout the game. For 39 of the 40 minutes CWC either held the lead or was tied. The only lead change came at the 3:41 minute mark of the second half, with Western taking a 2-point lead 57-55. After two free throws from Lorence Dela Cruz and a 3-pointer from Niieihii Black, the lead was never to change hands again. CWC finished the game off late by a margin of 63-57.

"We played a complete game tonight. The first half saw us run our offense to a high level getting everyone involved and finding quality shots. The second half was highlighted by our team's defense and the individual play of Black. This is our first win against Western in my time as the head coach, so to say I'm proud of the guys would be an understatement," quoted Coach Schmit on his team's performance.

The Rustlers will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th traveling to Northwest Junior College. The game time is slated for a 4:00 PM tip-off.
