Men Dominant In Region 9 Home Weekend
The men's basketball team took the floor at home on Friday and Saturday for Region 9 North play. Friday's game was against the 2022 Region 9 North champion Laramie County with Saturday's contest against Eastern Wyoming. Below are the results from each:

CWC-97 vs. LCCC-77
LCCC scored the opening basket of the game to take a 2-0 advantage, which would be their one and only lead of the night. Two quick baskets by Lorence Dela Cruz put the Rustlers up 4-2, maintaining a lead for the rest of the game. Multiple double digit leads were built throughout the course of the game, but it wasn't until the last 8 minutes when CWC blew the doors open. Timely 3-point baskets by Taye HollinsJayden Warren, and Sam Marbury took the lead from single digits to the final margin of 20 points.

"We are a complete team. We have solid point guard play, multiple guys who can shoot it from 3's, and our inside presence with Roberts and Engle is some of the best in the region. If we rebound the ball like we did tonight, stick to the scouts, and play together, we are very hard to beat." commented Coach Schmit on the overall performance his team had.

CWC had four starters score in double figures led by Sam Mabury's 31 point performance and Julian Roberts double-double, totaling 22 points and 12 rebounds.

CWC-118 vs. EWC-82
The Lancers from Torrington were the next team up on the Rustlers schedule. To say the game was never in doubt would be an understatement. CWC raced out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Building the lead to 18 points at halftime, 56-38. The second half CWC never let up; beating the Lancers in all facets of the game. Every single player scored for the Rustlers, EWC's leading scorers were held way below their averages, and the 40 minute game was controlled throughout by the home team.

"The guys are bought into each other. You can see it with our team huddles, our attention to detail picking guys up, and executing the game plans I have put together for them. If we can continue to grow as a group over the next four weeks hopefully we are in the mix to compete for a region title come late February." provided Coach Schmit on where his team is at.

The game was a historic day for Sam Marbury who set the single game scoring record at 42 points (13-19 FG's). Four other players scored in double figures: Roberts -17, Solomon-16, Cruz-12, and Hollins-10. The win brought CWC's record to 12-10 overall and 3-1 in sub-region play.
