Men Drop Two Games Falling To .500
This past week the Rustler men's basketball team dropped two Region 9 North games bringing their record to 12-12 on the season and 3-3 in Region 9 North sub-region play. "I was very disappointed with how our week went. Tuesday's game at Northwest was one of the more embarrassing performances we have had all season. Saturday we competed hard against Gillette, but couldn't make enough plays down the stretch to secure the win." quoted Coach Schmit.

Below is a recap of each game:

CWC-79 vs. NORTHWEST-106
For one of the few times this season, CWC got off to a slow start and never regained any momentum. Northwest jumped out to an early double digit lead and held it for the entire 40 minute contest. "We got as close as 20-22 midway through the first half, but after that Northwest responded with a 10-0 run taking all the wind out of our sails." quoted Coach Schmit.

The second half the Rustlers fell even further behind ultimately losing by one of their largest margins all season. CWC was led in scoring and rebounding by Julian Roberts totaling 21 points and 8 rebounds.

CWC-98 vs. GILLETTE-108
The region leading (6-0) Pronghorns from Gillette made the trip to Central on Saturday. Facing off against the most talented team in the region was a tall task for CWC. For 37 minutes the game was back and forth. CWC held multiple leads throughout the first half before Gillette took a 4 point advantage into halftime. The second half saw a highly competitive game with elite shot making from both teams. With 3:00 minutes to play, CWC had the ball down one. A costly turnover leading to an AND-1 dunk by Gillette swung all the momentum towards the Pronghorns. "We have shown throughout the season we do not respond very well when things don't go our way. 1-2 plays or a quick run by the opponent can completely derail us as a team. Our leadership has been very average throughout the season and it shows in games like today." Coach Schmit provided.

CWC was led in scoring by their two standout freshmen, Sam Marbury 34 points on 12-23 shooting and King Solomon scoring 31 points on 10-20 shooting.
