Sheridan Rodeo Provided Tough Competition for Rustlers

A week removed from their home rodeo competition in Riverton, the Rustler rodeo team were still riding the excitement of being able to perform in front of a home crowd. The CWC Rodeo team took a trip to compete in the rodeo hosted by Sheridan College this past weekend. Head Coach Andrew Schrock was very pleased with how his athletes performed, despite other challenges; "I wouldn't say we drew the best livestock this weekend, but everyone did their jobs, making for a great long round effort by all."

Making what seems like his usual appearance in the top of the standings for the Rustlers was Jace Mayfield, as he scored third in the average for steer wrestling and fifth in team roping with Caden Gines

Maylee Nordstrom was the shining star on the women's side, placing seventh in barrel racing. On an impressive side note, Nordstrom has made it to the short round in barrel racing for both of the previous two rodeos out of 104 total entries in the event.

Great contributions from some of the other men's rodeo athletes such as Chaz Dewey (sixth, bareback riding) and Colson Myers (seventh, steer wrestling) rounded out an overall solid performance from the Rodeo team. "The short round wasn't as prosperous," said Schrock, "...[but] both teams are healthy and hungry to win."

The Rodeo team has this weekend off from competition, but are back in action next weekend at Laramie County Community College.
