Rodeo Team Has Successful Spring Opener in Gillette

The Central Wyoming College Rodeo team opened the spring portion of their 2024-25 season at Gillette College from March 14-16. After almost 5 months of break from their last rodeo competition in October, the Rustlers were eager to get back in the arena and compete. Central Wyoming's brief hiatus form competition affected their performance minimally, and almost resulted in a first place finish.
"I couldn't be prouder of this team," said head CWC rodeo coach Andrew Schrock. "It was a great start for the men's team, [who] earned enough points to place second at the spring opener."
Jace Mayfield and Brahmer Gaehring each brought home an individual championship for the men's rodeo team, Mayfield's being in Steer Wrestling and Gaehring's in Bull Riding. Eian Smith was the only other Rustler to place, and he placed third in Bareback Riding.
The rodeo team has five more weekends of competition, the next of which will be at Eastern Wyoming College from March 28-30.
