Mayfield Crowned Reserve All-Around Champion at CNFR

Riverton, WY– Three student-athletes from the Central Wyoming College Rodeo team competed at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming this past week. Jace Mayfield qualified in Steer Wrestling as well as Team Roping with teammate Caden Gines. Brahmer Gaehring also qualified in Bull Riding.
Mayfield finished with 225 total points at the end of the week, which earned him the title of reserve (second place) all-around champion honors. Mayfield secured a third place finish in Steer Wrestling, and also scored a 10th place finish in Team Roping with Gines. Mayfield and Gines had the second best time during the second round, with 5.2 seconds. Gaehring failed to receive a score in his three rounds he competed in, and missed out on the short round.
"To see these guys have the success they had all year and watch it carry over to the CNFR is no accident," said Coach Schrock. "These young men know the importance of being the best they can be every single day both in and out of the arena. Throughout the past two years, I have got to witness their desire to improve their mental toughness when they had setbacks. I would like to congratulate them one more time along with all the [2024/25] team for having a successful season."
