Men's Soccer Continues to Make History, Secure First Ever Victory in a Region 9 Playoff Game
Riverton, WY— In a pivotal playoff game, the Central Wyoming College men's soccer team hosted Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles on October 18, in Riverton, WY. The Rustlers edged out a 1-0 victory in what was a tightly contested match, securing their first ever Region 9 playoff win in the history of the CWC men's soccer program.
The sole goal came early in the match at the 23-minute mark, with Izaak Smith finding the net, thanks to a skillful assist by Maddox Nadge. This decisive goal placed the Rustlers in a leading position by halftime, maintaining the 1-0 score. Throughout the game, both teams demonstrated strong defensive skills, but it was CWC's goalie, Stanley Schumann, who played a critical role in preserving the lead and ensuring the team's victory.
Looking ahead, the Rustlers are scheduled to face Otero College in the Semifinals round, set to take place on October 25, in Pueblo, CO. This upcoming game promises to be another significant challenge as the Rustlers aim to continue their success in the regional playoffs.
