2021 Rustler Roundup Rodeo Results

2021 Rustler Roundup Rodeo Results

The Rustlers stayed home this past weekend to not only compete in but also help produce the 2021 Rustler Roundup Rodeo. After the long round was complete the Rustlers had five members representing CWC in the short round.

Leading the way was freshman Ryn Severe from Oakley, Idaho. He made it back to the short round in the Tie-Down Roping after placing third in the long round with a 9.2-second run. He followed that up with a 9.3 in the short round that also placed third, but bumped him up to second in the average with an 18.5 on two. Freshman, Wyatt Stephens, from Tremonton, Utah, also made it back in the Tie-Down Roping after placing eighth in the long round with a 10.1-second run. He held his position in the average, tying his calf in 11.3 seconds giving him a total time on two of 21.4. Sophomore, Gage Gregersen, made another appearance back in the short round of the Steer Wrestling after splitting third place three ways in the long round with a 4.3-second run. Unfortunately, he was a 6.9 in the short round dropping him to seventh in the average with a time of 11.2 on two. Freshman, Jett VanBeizen, also made it back to another short round, this weekend in the Steer Wrestling, after throwing his long round steer in 5.5 seconds placing him ninth, but received a no-time in the short round.

Shelby Weltz from British Columbia, Canada was the only Lady Rustler to make it back to the short round. She qualified in the tenth position in the Goat Tying after tying her long round goat in 8.4 seconds. She followed that up with a 9.2 second run in the short round giving her a 17.6 which placed her tenth overall in the average.

"It was a successful weekend overall," said Coach Drew Schrock. "It takes a lot of time and effort to produce our hometown rodeo. So first I want to say what an amazing group of student-athletes the CWC Rodeo Team has. They worked Friday through Sunday from 7:00am until 8:00pm. They are required to help care for the livestock, pick up trash, sort, and load cattle, and run gates throughout the slacks and performances. They worked their tails off all weekend and represented CWC very well both producing and competing in their hometown rodeo.  And they all handled the pressure of competing in front of the hometown crowd very well! The timed event cattle have been really uneven this fall, so the mental part of the rodeo is crucial to be ready to win when the time presents itself, and not be dwelling on the prior run that didn't go well because of the calf or steer that didn't cooperate. We have had multiple guys qualify and place in multiple events and this is promising for the future because it shows us that they are staying positive and focusing on winning each and every time they compete. I'd like to thank everyone that donated their time to help control traffic at the fairgrounds and for each of our sponsors for their generous donations, we could not have produced it without everyone involved."
