EWC Rodeo Results

The Rustlers traveled to Torrington, WY for the second spring rodeo hosted by the Eastern Wyoming College Rodeo Team. On Championship Sunday the Rustlers were represented nine times during the short round.

Leading the way for the second week in a row was freshman, Jett VanBiezen. He placed second in the long round of the Steer Wrestling and Team Roping after throwing his steer in 5.5 seconds and roping his steer in 7.5 seconds. He also came back with solid runs in the short round for both events stopping the clock in 5.6 and 7.3 seconds. These times placed him third in the Steer Wrestling, and second, with partner Ryn Severe, in the team roping average. Ryn, also, qualified for the short round in the Tie-Down Roping stopping the clock in 11.8 seconds, placing him seventh in the round, but with a 16.8 second run in the short round he dropped to eighth in the average.

Kaden Berger qualified in both the Steer Wrestling and Team Roping as well. He stopped the clock in 6.7 seconds in Steer Wrestling, and 8.0 seconds with partner, Gage Gregersen, in the team roping. He split eighth and ninth in the long round steer wrestling but was 27.7 in the short round putting him ninth in the average. Kaden and Gage placed fourth in the long round with a 8.0 second run in the team roping, but failed to stop the clock in the short round ending up eighth in the average. Kade Williams, too, made it back for the second week in a row in the Steer Wrestling splitting eighth and ninth, with teammate Kaden Berger, with a 6.7 second run but failed to stop the clock in the short round, and dropped him to tenth in the average.

Leading the way for the Lady Rustlers was Shelby Weltz. She split sixth and seventh in the Goat Tying with an 8.1 second run, but dropped to ninth in the average after a 9.5 second run in the short round.

"I am very pleased with the overall performance of the team this past weekend," said Coach Schrock. "We had multiple cowboys make it back in multiple events and place deep in the average. Jett VanBeizen had a great weekend placing in two different events and winning the All Around Cowboy Title for the rodeo.  Moving him up in the Regional standings in both the Steer Wrestling and Team Roping with partner Ryn Severe. We also had two other cowboys make it back in two events, Ryn Severe and Kaden Berger. These are the types of performances that will put our team in contention for winning team titles in the future. We have a short week of practice this week, we leave Thursday for the rodeo at CSU that runs Friday through Sunday."
