EWC Rodeo Results

The Rustlers traveled to Torrington, Wyoming this past weekend to compete in the rodeo hosted by the EWC Lancers. After a solid short-round performance the Men's team placed 3rd overall behind the University of Wyoming and Casper College respectively.

Kall Mayfield led the way for the Rustlers, placing in the Tie-Down Roping and Steer Wrestling. He threw his long round steer in 5.3 seconds, the fifth fastest time of the round. His 5.9-second run in the short round placed him fourth in the round and in the average with a time of 11.2 seconds on two. He, also, placed sixth in the average of the Tie-Down, after qualifying back to the short round with a time of 11.9 and a short round run of 13.1- that placed fifth in the round. Clay Reiner also made it back to both Steer Wrestling and Tie-Down Roping. He placed seventh on his first steer with a time of 6.0 and threw his short round steer in a 5.6 placing him third in the round and jumping him to fifth in the average. Wyatt Stephens led the pack of Steer Wrestlers in the long round with a blazing time of 3.7 seconds but dropped to third in the average after placing sixth in the short round with a time of 7.2 seconds. Riley Barber placed third in the average of the Team Roping, roping two steers in 15.7 seconds with partner Clay Helm of Casper College. They qualified for the short round, placing seventh with a 7.8-second run and split third and fourth in the short round with 7.9 seconds. Gage Gregersen qualified in the Team Roping, as well, in ninth and tenth place after roping his steer with roping partner Jolie Bond of Otero Junior College in 8.2 seconds but unfortunately received a no-time in the short round.

Kendell Williams was the lone Lady Rustler to represent CWC in the short round. She qualified in the Goat Tying in a split for eighth and ninth after tying her goat in 7.9 seconds, and after a 9.0-second run in the short round, she remained eighth in the average.

"Great performance for the entire team this past weekend, especially to all of them that made it back to the short round," said Coach Schrock.  Of the eight that qualified six of them placed in both the short round and average. There are twice as many points available in the short round and a fraction of the competitors. Obviously, rodeo is a physical sport, but the way they showed up yesterday and executed their game plan showed great mental toughness. We celebrated their victories at 6am this morning after a warm-up, stretch, and burpee challenge to get our short week of workouts and practice started. We leave Thursday afternoon for the Skyline Stampede hosted by the CSU Rams Rodeo Team."
