Rustlers Compete at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open

This Saturday the Central Wyoming College distance track team traveled to Lockwood, MT to compete at the Yellowjackets/Battlin’ Bears Open. Despite the undesirable weather conditions the past month, CWC runners put together some very good performances. Battling the elements for CWC runners is second nature as they toed the line against their competition. “I am very proud of how each runner competed. We are carrying our momentum from the fall and I expect good things to come this spring,” stated Coach Faure.

Sophomore Luke Crossley had a phenomenal spring opener, placing 5th in the 1500m and 5th in the 800m. Luke stated, “I feel really good about how we battled out there in Montana, we’ve been snowed off the track for months so coach has cooked up some great replacement workouts around town. The work showed and I was happy to take down my heat in the 800m along with a quick finish in the 1500m, it always feels good to show the other schools what CW is all about.”

Freshman Abby Gribowskas is stepping out of her comfort zone this year and is taking on the 800m. She took a handful of seconds off her personal record clocking a 2:37.25 with a lot left. Abby commented, “This 800m was definitely a step up from the last race, and it’s exciting to see the seconds shaved off. Coach has this 800m strategy locked down.”
