Lady Rustlers beat LCCC on Sophomore Night

The Lady Rustlers battled on Saturday against LCCC to get its first win of the season with a score of 61-59. They started out down early like they did the previous night where they lost to LCCC 71-58. Saturday was a night and day game compared to Friday's as they did not let the score get out of hand and never fell below double digits. From Friday night to Saturday's score, the Rustlers made a 26 point turnaround!

Maile Williams (15 points, 5-12 from 3's) hit the game-winning three-pointer with nine seconds to go from an assist from Siona Astorga (27 points, 7 rebs, 4 assts). Siona Astorga came out blazing for her last sophomore home game, she played the best game she has ever had in her career at CWC and had her career-high for both seasons. We also had one more in double digits in scoring, Alexandria Terrazas with 10 points and 6 assists, and Alexxis Motisi with double digits in rebounds with 11!

"I'm so proud of all the hard work these athletes have done during this unprecedented time. I'm glad we were able to send out our sophomores with a win our the last home game," stated Head Coach Lindsey Fearing.

Up Next:  The Lady Rustlers will play at LCCC again Saturday, April 3rd at 4:00pm in a play-in game to go to the Region IX tournament in La Junta, CO at Otero Junior College.
