Rustler Recap
The Rustlers go 0-2 this weekend in Salt Lake City to bring their season record to 2-9. Friday, the Rustlers faced off with Colorado Northwestern for the 2nd time this season. The Rustlers took the lead early and went up by as much as 11 early in the 3rd quarter. However, their stamina did not last as they lost the lead at the midway point of the 3rd. The lead changed several times going into the 4th but ultimately the Rustlers did not hold on for the win as they fall 56-49. The Rustlers hit 10 3's in this outing but their hot shooting from behind the arc could not lead them to victory on the scoreboard.

On Saturday the Rustlers went up against #14 in the nation and undefeated Salt Lake Community College and the Rustlers came ready to play. The Rustlers ended the 2nd quarter early finding their rhythm on the offensive side bringing the halftime score to 46-33. In the 3rd quarter, the Rustler had a chance to bring the game to single digits but the undefeated Bruins scored on 3 straight possessions to increase the lead and they never looked back.

"Every day is the same scenario and the same answer. We are playing undersized and we are continuing to grow every day. We did not compete the way we needed to against CNCC, we talk every day about having to put together 40 minutes of consistency, and we put together about 30. This is what happens, and this is the result you get. We played really well against SLCC and competed until the end. If we can just play for 40 minutes against everyone as we do against the ranked opponents we've played so far, things might look different in the win-loss column. However, it's a young team and I just keep telling myself every day that it's about building the culture and turning this program in the direction it needs to be in year one," said Coach Westmoreland

The Rustlers do have some silver lining early in the season, through 11 games they are sitting #26 in the country in 3's made per game (7.1) and are #12 in total 3's made on the season (78).

"I said from day one to all my recruits and anyone that asked what they can expect from us, and I told them that we were going to be one of the fastest teams in the country and we were gonna be one of the best 3 pt shooting teams in the country. So having the shooting the way we do right now feels really good. As we recruit and get bigger inside, I am very excited for what this team can look like."

The Rustlers will head to Scottsbluff, NE this weekend (Dec. 9-10) to compete at the WNCC Classic.
