Ward Finishes in Second at Rustler's First Spring Competition

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers golf teams, both men's and women's, registered impressive scores at the NJCAA Region 9 regular season event held on March 20 & 21. The event took place against a competitive backdrop with clubs from Eastern Wyoming College, Northeastern Junior College, McCook College, and Otero College also participating.

The men's team shot impressive rounds of 303 and 302 across the two days. Meanwhile, the women's team turned in rounds of 351 and 340, showcasing consistent improvement and resilience. Standout performers included Cheyenne Ward, who secured a 2nd place finish with rounds of 77 and 78, and Isabell Salas, who tied for third place with consecutive rounds of 79. Their remarkable performances highlighted their skill and determination which have become a hallmark of the Rustlers.

"We have hit a great deal of golf balls in the indoor simulator but nothing beats getting outdoors and playing," said Head Coach Mike Neuman, reflecting the sentiment of a team eager to compete and excel. The atmospheric Colorado setting offered a challenging yet rewarding venue for the players to demonstrate their capabilities.

Looking ahead, the Rustlers have their sights set on the next event scheduled for March 27 & 28, in Sterling, Colorado. Both teams will look to carry forward their solid performance and aim for even better results in the upcoming competitions.
