Women's Soccer Secures Vital Conference Victory Against Northwest Trappers

Riverton, WY— The women's soccer team at Central Wyoming College earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Northwest Trappers on September 27, 2025. The sunny weather conditions were perfect for a game that demonstrated significant improvement from the Rustlers compared to their previous encounter with the Trappers.
Central Wyoming started strong, with all goals scored in the first half of the match. Bailey Brown and Jersee Clapier were the scorers, setting a solid lead by halftime with a 2-0 score. Brown's second goal was particularly noteworthy, delivered with a spectacular left-foot kick, sealing it as the game-winning shot. Sienna Bodily contributed with a crucial assist during the match.
In goal, Madilyn Shilling showed excellent skills, managing to keep the lead secure with only one goal conceded in the entire game. This win reflects a significant improvement from last year's result where the Rustlers faced a heavy defeat, losing 9-2 to the same team.
"Really proud of the girls last year we lost 9-2 to this team and it just shows the grit this team has. I am very proud of them and look forward to training just like normal for this upcoming weekend," remarked Head Coach Ben Nelson, reflecting on the growth and tenacity of the team.
Looking ahead, the Rustlers will travel to Nebraska for their next game on October 3, 2025, against Western Nebraska. Currently, the Rustlers hold a 5-4 overall record and are 4-2 in the region. The upcoming game is anticipated to continue the trend of strong performances from the team.
