Cross Country teams continue to set personal records; men's team beats Regis University

After a quick trip turnaround from last week, Central Wyoming College Cross Country traveled to Colorado Springs, CO for the Ted Castaneda XC Classic.  It was another great weekend for both teams and an opportunity to run fast.  Coach Faure stated, "The goal for this weekend was to compete hard and push the middle of the race.  With Regionals around the corner as a team, we will be ready for any kind of environment."

The men finished 6th beating Division 2 Regis University!  As usual, the men were led by Luke Crossley with a major personal record.  Mitch Johnson had quite the improved race maintaining the gap between one and two.  Mitch stated, "I feel the race went well overall, the course had a good surface to fly on. Being mentally engaged during the race is the most important thing I can do better for next time."  Luke also commented, "This race felt really good. All the work we've put in is starting to show in a big way. It feels good to compete with bigger schools and be up to the challenge."

The women were without Abby Grabowaski so they were unable to capture a score.  However, Larissa McElroy had a breakout race finishing first for the women!  She set a new personal record with a time of 24:42.77 for 6k.  Larissa said, "I feel like it was a beautiful day to run! We did great as a team, we faced the challenges that came upon us and always remember to run like Billy Mills!"

The cross country teams will focus on training, as they will not compete now until Regional in Leadville, CO on October 29th.
