Rustlers Run at Regional Tournament

This past weekend the CWC Cross Country teams competed in the Regional Meet in Beatrice, NE.  The Meet was held on a great course at the Beatrice High School and included running through two sections of trees and an alfalfa field.  Two men competed for CWC in the Men's race.  Freshman Tayden Bell completed the 8k race in less than 28 minutes.  He placed 11th overall, behind the very strong team from Trinidad State.  Sophomore Quinten Gasaway ran a strong race and finished in less than 31 minutes.  Both set personal records for the race distance.

CWC entered a full women's team in the Regional meet for the second year in row.  In the Women's 5K race Larissa McElroy finished first for CWC with a personal record of 20:30, she placed 5th overall.  Larissa was recognized by the Region for placing in the top 5 of the field.  Kallee Cook finished in 21.22 minutes and placed 7th overall.  Sophomore KayKay Sandall and Freshman Amberly Froerer both completed the race with PRs of 21.54 and 22.04 respectively.  Sophomore Monroe Swain finished strong in under 23 minutes.
"It was exciting to see each team member run and meet their goals at the Regional Meet.  I am proud of them for the efforts each runner has been making during practice.  They each set goals for themselves, have been putting in the miles, running the sprints and working on their paces - they don't ask how much farther they have to run.  They just keep running and doing their best.  Those efforts paid off this weekend for each of them as they were able to chalk up PRs."
